M1 is dedicated to creating large and small scale custom interactive video installations for corporate lobbies, museums, rock shows and more. Through our unique programming and hardware systems, we transform an area into an immersive interactive experience. We have over 15 years experience as VJ's and video installation artists. Our goal is to enlighten participants by creating new worlds using integrating programming design and technology. By combining multi-disciplinary design and interaction, we create a personal connection to the audience.
Light Scribble
Light Scribble gives the ability to write virtual graffiti anywhere, on walls, entire buildings, bridges, you name it. Light Scribble can be installed almost anywhere. Our optional database application allows gathering of important user info, while automatically capturing a still of the projected image for future viewing. Images are uploaded to our Light Scribble Graffiti Wall, where the participants can view all of the images taken at the event or find their own image with a special code given out at the event.

OVT
OVT Visuals began as a plan to use technology to alter consciousness and
raise awareness. More out of a manic drive to melt the digital envelope
than profit, OVT creates visual landscapes with video, film and
lighting. Landing in abandoned warehouses or traditional performance
spaces, Brian Dressel, along with Brien Rullman, transforms them into
alien landscapes, REM playgrounds and temples of digital salvation.
Their work has been seen in documentaries on the rave scene, 'Rebels-A
Journey Underground,' 'Better Living Through Chemistry,' the DVD version
of the sci-fi film, 'Pitch Black,' MTV's ‘Amp,' and raves around the world.

Ring Screen
The Ring Screen is a new innovation in video projection screen design. With the ability to display 360 degree video imaging, the Ring Screen becomes the center of attention at any event, allowing your attendees to see your imagery from anywhere in the room. Imagery will show through evenly lit on both sides with our custom front/rear projection surface surface.
The center of venue screen can be displayed in a number of different formats based on the needs of your event. The screen can be arranged as one single 360 degree image, two 180 degree images, six duplicate images, or six separate images rotating around the screen. The possibilities are endless. Our technology and video production design services allow for all formats to be displayed on this spectacular screen.

UL Pass Master
The UL Pass Master is a virtual fire safety simulation. It was designed to teach kids and adults how to properly use a fire extinguisher. We modified a real fire extinguisher to house electronics to talk to the computer wirelessly.
The Player holds the fire extinguisher and sees a 3d apartment. Various fires break out randomly. It is the goal of the player to extinguish the flames and get out of the house. On screen tips and warnings pop up and player is awarded with points, while a countdown timer is displayed and sound effects of fire and sirens are heard.
All Terrain were the leaders on this project. This simulation is currently on tour with the UL SafetyTour. More info here: http://www.ulsafetytour.com/behind_the_scenes.htm

Oracle World
Hartman Studios hired us to create thematic video and install 2 Ring Screens for the Oracle World Event in San Francisco, held at the Cow Palace. There were 4 separate areas to present our elements. We worked with a large VJ team to present all the video on over 20 screens. Performers at the event were Elton John, Berlin, Devo, Joan Jett and more.

Shedd Wild Reef
The Shedd Aquarium in Chicago asked us to build a motion triggered video playback system. When a visitor walks up to the dual monitors in the Wild Reef area, their motion is detected and triggers a video of scientists working a laboratory to explain what they are doing to save coral reefs and how you can to.

Our Busy Minds
Chicago kinetic artist Christopher Furman worked with us to create a custom software application to control video playback for his piece "Our Busy Minds". The piece simulates two heads speaking to each other through pure visual language. It is installed permanently at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications in Urbana, Illinois.

Multiscreen
Combining beautiful video and motion graphics spread across multiple screens is a breathtaking experience to behold. We design or convert existing content, while choosing and operating the video playback system that is right for the job. There is no limit to how many screens or formats possible. Multiscreen playback systems can be operated manually for live events or automatically for long term installations.
We have created Multiscreen installations for the Chicago Field Museum, Underwriters Laboratories, The City of Chicago, 2007 Superbowl, Chivas, the Shedd Aquarium, Oracle and many more.

Octav-4
Brian worked closely with Peter Nyboer and Jay Smith of Livid Instruments to develop the Livid octav-4. Mimicking the hardware interface of the Edirol V4, you can control up to 32 simultaneous video inputs, and 8 unique outputs.
Taking advantage of the V4's MIDI implementation, each unit can be quickly setup and controlled by the MIDI messages sent from the octav-4 software. The octav-4 can tie together multiple V4 outputs of differing content into a unified composition, synchronized to a tempo, or individually controlled with your mouse. "Cascading" the controls provide movement of transitions and content among screens with the click of a mouse.
It's available for at www.lividinstruments.com

The Swing
New York/Chicago multimedia artist, Claudia Hart, asked us to create a video playback system to control 3 video outputs in sync to display her piece, The Swing. We used one computer and custom hardware to accomplish the goal. M1 also wrote custom software and scripts to control day to day startup and shutdown routines.

Respondr Malibu Tour
Using our Respondr technology we worked with Legacy MP to create a custom life size reactive video game. Revolving around the 'beach' theme of Malibu Rum, we came up with an interactive volleyball game. Two or more players can stand on each side of a 9X12 rear projection screen and hit the virtual ball back and forth. Points are scored until there is a winner. It was a spectacular hit and stayed on tour for over a year.

UL Safety Tour
All Terrain asked us to create a 3 screen video installation to be mounted on the side of the UL SafetyTour truck, that will travel around the US for 2 years. We created a 4 minute looping video that plays across all 3 monitors in sync with our custom multi sync video hardware and programming.

VJ Book
We wrote custom software and installed less than paper thin sensors between pages of a book. Looking through the heavily graphic designed book, you can touch any image on a page. When you do, a video screen in front of you plays a video relating to the image. We are also featured in the book as OVT Visuals.

Cherry
Working with Rande Gerber, Josh Held of the Rockwell Group and Dan Agne of Sound Investment, we designed the video control and playback system for Cherry, one of the hottest clubs in Vegas. M1 also created all of the customized content for the club. By focusing on technical innovation, as well as aesthetic issues, the Rockwell Group achieved the goal of creating an experience that Held says, "transcends the gaggle of over-the-top nightclubs found in every casino in Las Vegas."
